Pompano Beach Man Rescued From Burning Bedroom
A South Florida man can thank his boarder for saving his life after a fire broke out in a Pompano Beach home they shared.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue said the fire started Sunday morning in the bedroom of a home in the 27 hundred block of Northeast 8th Court where the home's 65-year old owner was sleeping.
A 21-year man, who rented a room in the house, smelled the smoke and then rushed into his landlord's burning room. The younger man was able to pull the owner to safety.
Fire rescue paramedics said the older man was taken to North Broward Medical Center with 2nd and 3rd degree burns all over his body. Due to the severity of the man's injuries, he was transferred to the Jackson Memorial Burn Center in Miami. The younger man was also taken to North Broward Medical Center where he was treated for 1st and 2nd degree burns on his hands and arms.
Firefighters said the fire ignited some ammunition the man had stored in his room.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
