Tens of Thousands of Pythons To Be Hunted & Killed
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
Here's a surprising fact for Everglades park visitors: an estimated 100-thousand pythons are slithering around the park's grounds. As a result of a 2-year-old Florida girl being strangled by an unlicensed pet python last month, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson is calling for these pythons to be hunted and killed.
Upon taking a tour of the Everglades with Salazar last month, Nelson advised the secretary of the python problem.
Nelson sent a letter to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar on Tuesday, asking for permission to have deputized agents and volunteers kill as many of the snakes as possible in an organized hunt.
