Actor Rainn Wilson On The Couch With Jim & Jade
Rainn Wilson Just Nominated For An Emmy
DORAL (CBS4) ―
Actor Rainn Wilson received an Emmy nomination Thursday morning in the category of Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy and one day later, was sitting on the couch in the CBS4 studio in Doral talking with
CBS4's Jim and Jade.
Wilson is probably best known for playing the dorky Dwight Schrute on "The Office," but he's more than just a paper pusher, he's trading in his glasses for a new role in the movie "The Rocker."
In the film, Wilson plays Robert "Fish" Fishman, a failed drummer who is given a second chance at fame 20 years after being booted out of his famous eighties hair band "Vesuvius."
"My character Fish was a heavy metal drummer back in the '80s. He was booted from the band before they become super huge, like Guns and Roses huge. His life was going nowhere but then he gets another chance of living his rock and roll dream by joining up with his high school nephew's school rock band and the name of the band is A.D.D.," he told Jim and Jade.
When Jim Berry asked Wilson what happens when the old guy hooks up with the young band, Wilson replied, "It's hilarious. We go on tour. It is really funny. There is a lot of broad comedy but it also has a great heart. It's a great coming of age story of this guy and the kids living their dreams."
The film also stars Christina Applegate. It's rated PG-13 and opens August 20th.
Hot on the heels of "The Rocker", Wilson also has other projects. He just did a small part in "Transformers 2" and he just wrote a script for a movie called "Bonsai Shadow Hands" about a down and out alcoholic ninja. Jade Alexander wasn't sure if he was serious or not about that.
Wilson also has his own bobble head doll that his "Office" co-star Angela Kinsey uses to help soothe her baby when it gets restless.
Rainn and his wife, Holiday, also have a child of their own. His name is Walter. The couple decided on a more traditional name because he said they'd had 'enough of the weird, hippy names.'
