Coral Springs police have launched an investigation into the abduction and sexual assault of a woman from inside her own home.
Police received a 911 call around 4:20 a.m. from a man who said he heard noises coming from the front of his home in the 4900 block of Riverside Drive. When he walked outside, his 61-year old wife was in the front passenger seat of a vehicle and she was screaming for help, according to Coral Springs Police Sgt. Joe McHugh. When the husband ran toward the car, the suspect sped away heading north on Riverside Drive.
Sgt. McHugh said the suspect sexually assaulted the victim multiple times throughout the northern end of Coral Springs. In addition, the suspect drove to two ATM's, a Wachovia on Westview Drive and a Bank of America on Wiles Road, and he demanded the victim withdraw money.
The woman was found about an hour later at a Coral Springs apartment complex, where the suspect dropped her off. She suffered multiple facial injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned, possibly black male, early to mid twenties, 5' 6" to 5' 7", slim build, no facial hair, no visible marks, wearing long shorts, a dark shirt and a baseball cap with no markings.
The vehicle is described as possibly a late model Honda Accord, gray in color, gray cloth interior, factory tint, electric windows, and with an unknown number of doors.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS or Detective Lisajo Faircloth at 954-346-1301.
