Jury Convicts Ex-Con Of Shooting NFL Player

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (CBS4) ― A Jacksonville jury convicted a 33-year-old ex-convict for the attempted murder of former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Richard Collier. Tyrone Hartsfield shot Collier six times as Collins waited outside a Jacksonville apartment house in 2008.

The six-person jury in the trial only needed 2 hours and 45 minutes of deliberation before returning its verdict after a nine-day trial.

Collier was left paralyzed and had to have his left leg amputated due to the injuries he suffered. Hartsfield faces up to life in prison for the shooting. The jury also has to decide if he was guilty of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
