Road Closures Expected In Coconut Grove

Thousands Of Runners Expected To Participate In Walk To Benefit Lou Gehrig's Disease

COCONUT GROVE (CBS4) ― Some roads in Coconut Grove will be closed on Saturday morning to prepare for the thousands of runners expected to participate in the Eighth Annual Lou Gehrig's Disease 10K run and 5K run/walk.

The following roads will be closed from 6:30 to 9 a.m.: South Bayshore Drive near Dinner Key Marina, Main Highway and Douglas Road east of Main Highway.

"There will be temporary shut downs, but only as the runners go through," Miami Police Spokesman Jeffrey Giordano. "During breaks they will allow cars through, but expect major delays."

Miami police will also limit access to East Sunrise Avenue. The run begins at 7:15 a.m.

Registration is still open until 4 p.m. Friday and it costs $25 per person, $10 for children 14 and under.

The event will begin 7:30 a.m. at 3500 Pan American Dr.
