3 Men Captured On Tape In Failed Home Invasion

Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS

CUTLER BAY (CBS4) ―

Burglars did just about everything to try to break into a Cutler Bay home in December 2007. Though they did not succeed in the break-in, they did however get away.  Police hope surveillance video might help in their capture.

The-would-be burglars huffed and puffed, but the double wooden doors wouldn't budge, and they were so busy in their illegal endeavor that it took a while for one of them to finally realize they were being filmed on camera.

One of them disabled the surveillance equipment, but by then, their profiles were already on tape, and police hope someone might recognize them.

"One of the neighbors looked out the window, heard loud banging noises and that's when she observed four black males running into a vehicle - a 1990, possibly a Pontiac grey in color," said Alvaro Zabaleta of Miami-Dade Police to CBS4 Ileana Varela

Investigators say there have been several burglaries recently in the same Cutler Bay neighborhood and the same suspects may be involved. The homeowner has resorted to hurricane shutters to protect the front door in case the men should return.

Other neighbors are trying to protect their homes with surveillance cameras and house alarms and just looking out for one another.

"Our neighborhood is concerned," said Gordon Evans, a neighbor. "There hasn't been any home intrusions or invasions, if that were to happen I guess it would escalate. We're concerned but there isn't a heck of a lot you can do about it, you just have to keep your eyes open."

Anyone with information is asked to please contact Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
