All the devastation in Haiti is bringing people together in just about every community in South Florida.
CBS4 wanted to bring you the faces of the people who are making a difference.
A team who is used to running an apartment complex is now running their own relief effort.
"We came in yesterday and said we have to do something. This is terrible," said Sophia Binda, Manager at the Laurels at Jacaranda in Plantation.
CBS4 News heard about the staff's plan to reach out to its 500 residents living at the Laurels at Jacaranda in Plantation.
"Our residents are really generous when it comes to helping out," said Binda.
And
CBS4 also saw more help coming from a South Florida business with employees who have family in Haiti. Marie Emmanuel, who works as a line cook, is terrified.
"My family, I don't hear nothing about it," said Emmanuel to
CBS4's Jorge Estevez.
Her company, Lime Fresh Mexican Grill, is donating 500 cases of water and asking their customers to help too.
"I am really happy about it," said Emmanuel.
And it is a life lesson for preschoolers at Nob Hill Academy in Davie. They are learning about compassion
"Talking to them in simple terms where they can understand that their friends in Haiti need help, is just the way to get through to them," said Meredith Santana, who is in charge of the Academy.
All four school locations are collecting supplies and helping to get the message across that there is hope. The key lesson to remember for anyone who is donating, is to contact a reputable agency like the Salvation Army or the Red Cross.
