Once considered the only game in town for gamblers looking to get lucky on 'cruises to nowhere', SeaEscape is pulling out of Port Everglades.
Operating out of Ft. Lauderdale's port for more than two decades, SeaEscape has informed the Broward County Commission that it was ending operations on Sunday because of a number of factors.
CBS4 news partners at the
Miami Herald report the cruise line was late in paying $56-thousand to the port for services and security back in May.
In recent months, ships that offered gambling while cruising off shore in international waters have lost business to the Seminole Tribe's casinos and Broward race tracks which off Las Vegas style gaming and slot machines.
Horizon's Edge Casino Cruises and Aquasino have already pulled out of Miami Dade. When SeaEscape ceases operations SunCruz Casinos, operating out of Key Largo, will remain as the sole gambling ships operating out of South Florida.
