Anyone With Information Is Asked To Call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) ―
Miami Beach police are investigating a sexual assault on a female tourist Tuesday morning in an alley behind 919 Collins Ave.
The Georgia woman told police, according to CBS4 Reporter Peter D'Oench, that she was caught off guard while walking to the garage where her car was parked.
Miami Beach police are releasing limited information about the attack that happened shortly after midnight, though, they do say the victim was on South Beach with a friend to have a few drinks.
After she frequented Mango's Tropical Café on Ocean Drive, the victim told her friend she was going up the street to visit a restaurant called Fat Tuesday's and would meet her at a parking garage on 10th Street. It did not happen.
According to the police report, the victim said something was thrown in her face, and the sexual battery happened in a dark courtyard.
She then ran north one block to the parking garage where she alerted the manager.
The police are describing the suspect as male, 5'6" in height, about 20 years old, short dark hair. He was wearing jeans and white T-shirt.
