Confessed Serial Rapist Captured On Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) ―

Miami Beach police on Thursday announced the capture of 29-year-old Arturo Ortiz Soto, who has been charged with multiple sexual assaults against women for a number of years. 

Police detectives said Ortiz Soto has confessed to assaults dating back to 2006, which include at least two sexual batteries and three attempted sexual assaults.

"He confessed to having a problem with women that he feels, he enjoys, seeking his victim," said Detective Osvaldo Ramos.

Police said that Ortiz Soto, who lived in an apartment on Jefferson Avenue on South Beach, weighing 140-pounds, 5'6" in height, was arrested after trying to rape a woman Tuesday evening. It was caught on surveillance cameras near 14th Street and Washington Avenue.

He's also accused of terrorizing at least five women on Miami Beach, luring some into alleyways and then attacking them, including a Georgia tourist in late June.

In his court appearance today, a judge ordered Ortiz Soto to be held on $250,000 bond.
