Dumped Shoes Will Be Given Out In Haiti
Shoes May Have Fallen Off A Truck
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
Thousands of shoes mysteriously dumped on the Palmetto Expressway last week will be given to the people of Haiti.
The shoes from Friday's incident were swept up and placed in a field near Bird Road. The Nashville based charity Soles4Souls plans to collect the shoes and distribute them in Haiti.
The Florida Highway Patrol said thousands of work boots, bath slippers, tennis sneakers, beach sandals, even pairs of inline skates, inexplicably materialized shortly before 8 a.m. on the busy roadway, disrupting traffic for hours.
The FHP is trying to figure out where the shoes came from. If the driver comes forward, he will probably have to pay a hefty fee for cleanup costs.
