BSO Hunts Gunman In Deerfield Beach Shooting

A large police perimeter has been set up in a section of Deerfield Beach after a late morning shooting that left at least one person injured and a gunman on the loose.

The Broward Sheriff's Office has released few details of the shooting which occurred around 11:35 a.m. at 540 Northeast 41st Street. Chopper4 flew over the scene and spotted a 4 door sedan which appeared to have crashed into the side of an apartment building; all of its doors were flung open. Investigators said there was some sort of a confrontation between two men which ended when one of the men shot the other.

BSO confirms that Deerfield Beach Fire Rescue took the injured man to North Broward Medical Center where he was treated for the gunshot wound.

Nearby Deerfield Beach High School, Crystal Lake Middle School and Park Ridge Elementary School have all been placed on temporary lockdown as a precaution.

BSO has not said what may have prompted the shooting or how many individuals may be involved.
