Man, Divorced 20 Years, Kills Ex-Wife, Self
MIAMI (CBS) ―
A Miami man who had been divorced from his wife for two decades came to
her home with a gun Wednesday and opened fire through her front door,
hitting her with multiple gunshots, before fleeing back to his own
home. There, police say, he took his gun, went to the back yard, and
ended his own life. Why is still a mystery.
The ex-wife, who lived in the 3100 block of NW 13th street, survived the attack and was able to call 911, which sent police who tracked the husband to his home in the same neighborhood. City of Miami police officers tried to arrest the man, whose name was not immediately available, but he went into his back yard with the gun and the officers heard a shot.
A police helicopter flying overhead saw the man's body lying in the back yard, and he was later determined to have died in the yard.
The ex-wife, whose name was not released, was taken by Miami Fire Rescue to Ryder Trauma Center for treatment of gunshot wounds, where she later died of her injuries
Police are still trying to figure out what caused the man to attack his ex-wife.
