M.D Police Hosts Baseball Game To Honor Somohano

KENDALL (CBS4) ―

The Miami-Dade Police Department hosted a charity baseball tournament Sunday to honor an officer killed in the line of duty.

The tournament was held at the Kendall Indian Hammocks Park in memory of the late Miami-Dade officer Jose Somohano.

Families enjoyed a day of food and fun.

"It's an over all effort from everybody in the law enforcement community and in the private business sector to recognize what happened on that day," said Sergeant Michael Bracci of Miami-Dade.

All proceeds from the event will go to help the family of Somohano. In September, Somohano was shot and killed, three other officers wounded, during a sweep in the southern part of the county. The suspect was killed by officer's hours later in Broward.
