New Court Date Set For Slain Pregnant Teen Suspect

Another juvenile court hearing in the case of a South Florida teenager accused of killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend has been set for November 5th.
Edward Jermaine Babbs, 17, was in juvie court Tuesday morning where the judge simply set the next hearing date.
Babbs is charged with two counts of felony murder in connection with the Oct. 2 death of Stephanie Rabsatt and her unborn child.
Rabsatt, 17, was found dead inside a car in the Winn-Dixie supermarket parking lot at 6301 County Line Road. . She died of gunshot wounds.
Babbs was arrested and processed as a juvenile. He's been held in juvenile detention since his arrest while the state attorney's office decides whether or not to charge him as an adult.
Police said during questioning, Babbs admitted to being the father of the unborn child. Rabsatt's family says she was due to deliver a baby boy in November.
Chief Assistant public defender for juveniles Gordon Weekes said Babbs is a senior at Nova High School in Davie. "What we have is an honors student facing serious crimes and we want to get him the best defense possible," says Weekes.
Babbs lives with his stepfather, who is a Broward Sheriff's Officer Deputy.
