Strong Storms Seen Across South Florida

DORAL (CBS4) ― The CBS4 storm team tracked heavy thunderstorms moving through parts of South Florida Tuesday evening.

A large patch crossed northwest Miami-Dade County, bringing heavy rain and lightning to the Turnpike, Medley, Miami Lakes and spreading into Hialeah.

Dark clouds began rolling over the CBS4/My33 station in Doral around 5 p.m.

It began storming even harder in northern Broward County before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

In deep Southwest Miami-Dade lightning struck a house's roof and set the attic on fire. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed they responded to the fire at the 25600 block of SW 197 Avenue. Firefighters had to tear down parts of the ceiling to douse the flames with water. It took 20 firefighters to put it out within 10 minutes.

A similar weather pattern can be expected Wednesday, with a sunny morning and stormy downpours later in the afternoon and evening. Storms are likely on Thursday as well, and may be spotty into the holiday weekend.
