So. Fla. Summer Camps Offer Plenty Of Choices
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
These days, parents have plenty to worry about from finances to flu viruses, but Miami-Dade and Broward County parks officials say summer camp shouldn't be one of them.
Both counties are offering affordable summer camps for children ranging in ages from 3 to 17. From learn-to-swim lessons to theater classes, this year's summer camp activities mix entertainment and education.
"We're affordable and people are looking for activities that are close to home," said Cyndy Baker, marketing manager with Broward County Parks.
Baker said some slots were still open for the
free camps, but were expected to be filled to capacity soon.
Miami-Dade parks will continue to offer their popular "Fit To Play" program with more than 40 parks participating. Lessons will center around sports, nutrition and field trips to MetroZoo and the Deering Estate.
Scholarships are available through the Children's Trust on a need basis. For a complete list of all summer camps in Miami-Dade click here.
