SunPass Express Lanes Open At Okeechobee Plaza
MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) ―
Drivers who pass though the northbound Okeechobee Road Sunpass toll plaza on the Florida Turnpike can now do so without having to slow to a crawl.
New SunPass only lanes opened early Monday morning which will allow the flow of traffic to continue as drivers pass through the toll plaza. Drivers who use SunPass can do so from the left or center lanes while traveling at 40 mph.
Cash customers should be in the right lane as they approach the toll plaza, which will have five traditional tollbooths available to collect both SunPass and cash tolls. A concrete wall now separates the SunPass lanes from the cash lanes.
Cash customers who end up on the SunPass-only express lanes should not stop on the travel lanes, to avoid potential rear-end collisions. They should continue to their destinations and then call the SunPass customer service center at 1-888-TOLL-FLA to speak with a representative about paying the toll.
