Swap Shop Argument Leads To School Lock Down
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ―
Two Broward schools were temporarily placed on a precautionary lock down Tuesday after a violent fight broke out in the Ft. Lauderdale Swap Shop. Ft. Lauderdale police said it began when two men got in an argument with one of the flea market's vendors around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
As the argument heated up, one of the men reportedly pulled out a gun and pistol whipped the vendor. Both of the men then took off on foot into the surrounding neighborhood.
As a precaution, the nearby Wingate Oaks Center at 1211 NW 33rd Terrace and Larkdale Elementary, at 3251 NW 12th Place, were placed on lock down for a short time as police searched the area for the two men.
The injured vendor was taken to Broward General Medical Center; no word on his condition.
