Man Accused Of Gunning Down Cabbie Jailed

MIAMI SHORES (CBS4) ― A man accused of gunning down a South Florida cabbie remains behind bars in Miami Dade's jail facility awaiting an arraignment hearing.

26-year old Raul Prieto-Soto was arrested Saturday evening following the shooting of 61-year old cab driver Patrick Zuniga.

According to Miami-Dade Police homicide investigators, Zuniga was at a stop sign on the corner of Del Leon Drive and NW 36th Street in Miami Shores around 4:00 p.m. when a man with a gun walked up to the cab and shot him multiple times. Zuniga managed to drive away but crashed into a bus bench.

He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he died.

Along with the arrest of Prieto-Soto, police were able to recover the suspected murder weapon. Investigators have not said what the motive was behind the shooting.

Zuniga is survived by his wife and five children. A viewing will be held for him Monday at 4 p.m. at La Funeraria Cubana, 198 Hialeah Drive.
