Band Teacher Charged With Molesting Student

Police Said He Was A Mentor To The Victim

Tuesday Night Pittman Bonded Out Of Jail

PEMBROKE PINES (CBS4) ― Pembroke Pines police arrested investigating a band teacher for allegedly sexually molesting one of his students. Russell Pittman, 56, of Sunrise, was in bond court on Tuesday, accused of lewd and lascivious behavior against a 14-year-old girl.

The victim's mother made the allegations against Russell, who is a band teacher at Pines Middle School.

According to Sgt. Bryan Davis of Pembroke Pines Police Department, the girl accused Pittman of visiting her house, and during the process of giving her a hug, grabbed and rubbed her breasts and attempted to reach inside her shirt. When the victim resisted, Pittman let her go and left the house.

Detectives said the teen received phone calls from Pittman, which they were listening to, when he apologized for his actions and said he loved her.

Pittman admitted the molestation to police, and was arrested and charged with 2 counts of lewd and lascivious molestation. Police have declined to release any more information about the case.

Tuesday night Pittman bonded out of jail.
