Taravella Teacher Accused Of Having Sex With Teen

Massop Allegedly Had Sexual Relationship With Teen

CORAL SPRINGS (CBS4) ― A J.P. Taravella High School English teacher has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16-year old female student.

Noygel Antonio Massop, 41, is accused of having sex with the girl on a number of occasions from October, 2007 through November 2008. He's been charged with 5 counts of sexual battery.  Each count carries a maximum prison term of 30 years.

Noygel was arrested after he allegedly implicated himself in a telephone conversation police set up with the teen.

Taravella officials originally questioned Massop and teen separately about rumors concerning a suspected sexual relationship in December 2007 or January 2008. At the time, both denied the allegations.

Before teaching English and coaching boys basketball at Taravella, Massop worked at Coconut Creek High School.  He had returned to work at Coconut Creek High as a full time substitute teacher before his arrest on December 19th.
