Police say horseplay is to blame for a teenager who ended up shot aboard a Miami-Dade Transit Bus Thursday evening.
At about 4:30 p.m. police say the two teens were on the bus eastbound in Northwest Miami-Dade; at least one of them had a gun. Somehow it goes off accidentally and shot the other the leg. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim via air rescue to Ryder Trauma Center.
The shooter apparently got spooked and ran out of the bus, but police quickly caught up with him and detained him.
The teen was taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to Miami-Dade police, after being shot in the area of NW 199 St. & 47 NW Ave. in Miami Gardens.
Police are assessing the situation and investigating the age of the shooter and whether he was supposed to have a gun.
