Take A Ride With The Simpsons This May

The Simpsons Replace Back To The Future

The Emmy Award Winning Show Is In Its 19th Season

ORLANDO (CBS4) ― Get ready to scream and laugh with Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa as you take a rocketing ride through Krusty's theme park.

The Simpsons Ride, based on the long-running Fox TV animated series, will make its public debut at Universal Orlando on May 15th and will open at Universal Hollywood in California two days later.

Built inside the old Back to the Future ride, guests will be rocketed along with the Simpson family on a hysterical adventure as they experience thrill rides, dark rides and "live" shows that make up a new fantasy amusement park dreamed up by the show's cantankerous Krusty the Clown.

"The ride is designed to duplicate the Simpsons home-viewing experience, only at high speed and with lots of screaming," stated The Simpsons Creator and Executive Producer Matt Groening Matt Groening in a statement released by Universal.

Groening teamed up with the show's Executive Producer James L. Brooks to create the ride that will feature many of the show's characters all voiced by the original actors.

"Universal takes the most popular characters in blockbuster movies and hit TV shows and creates fun, exhilarating entertainment experiences," said Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts in a statement. "With its unique sense of humor and enormous popularity, The Simpsons is a perfect complement to our brand of entertainment."

According to the ride's website – TheSimponsRide.com – while waiting in line you enter the carnival-like midway of Krustyland complete with inept fortunetellers, uninspired musical reviews, and rides like "The Tooth Chipper" rollercoaster.

"Once you board your vehicle you're in for one surprise after another as you embark on a wild, over the top ride through park,,,flying, floating and more or less crashing your way through Krustyland's kiddie attractions, stunt shows and thrill rides."

The Simpsons began as a series of 'shorts' on the Tracey Ullman Show in 1987. After three seasons, FOX spun the stories of a dysfunctional family from Springfield off into their own half hour prime time show. In 2007, the show marked its 20th anniversary of The Simpsons with a prime time movie – appropriately entitled The Simpsons Movie – which grossed approximately $526.2 million worldwide.

This multi-Emmy-Award-winning series, currently in its 19th season, is a Gracie Films Production in association with 20th Century Fox Television.
