Tri-Rail To Raise Fares 25% In June
POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) ―
Commuters who rely on Tri-Rail to get to work, to go shopping or just to get around will have to dig a little deeper into their wallets.
Last Friday Tri-Rail's Board of Directors agreed to raise fares across the board by 25 percent beginning June 1st. A one-way fare to travel the rail's entire 72 mile span, from Miami International Airport to Mangonia Park in Palm Beach County, will go from $5.50 to $6.90. The cost of a monthly adult pass will also be increased from $80 to $100.
Board members say the increase will hopefully show legislators in Tallahassee that they are doing what they can to cover operating costs.
