Monday Is The Deadline To Register To Vote

Monday is deadline to register for general election

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The presidential election has been underway for almost 18 months, but the finish line is now in sight. And that means the deadline to register to vote in the general election is just about a day away.

Monday, October 6, is the last day eligible potential voters can register if they want to cast their ballot in the general election in November.

If you still haven't registered yet, here are some places where you can.
• Florida Driver's License Bureau
• Miami-Dade County public libraries
• Team Metro offices
• Government on the Go buses
• Any state public assistance agency
• Any agencies that provide assistance to disabled persons
• Armed forces recruiting offices

Once the registration deadline has passed, the next important dates in the election will be from October 20th to November 2nd. During that time period, you can take part in early voting. But, you have to request your absentee ballot before October 29th at 5 p.m.

The general election will take place on November 4th.

Grammy Award winning rapper Jay-Z has offered music fans who have not registered to vote yet an incentive – a couple of free concerts.

Last week it was announced he would hold a "Last Chance for Change" voter registration rally and free concert on Sunday for potential voters who were at least 18 years of age.

Tickets for the free show, which were available at Campaign for Change offices throughout South Florida, went so quickly a second show was scheduled for Monday night. Multi-platinum recording artist Wyclef Jean will join Jay-Z at Sunday night's show, which begins at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for Sunday's concert were gone in just hours, which prompted Jay-Z to add a second show on Monday.

Tickets for Monday afternoon's concert are available at all Campaign for Change offices; limit two per person. Concert promoters say you must be at least 18-years old to attend the event. The concert begins at 12:30 p.m., doors open at 11:00 a.m.

Both concerts take place at Miami's Bayfront Park Amphitheater.
