Middle School Burlgary Plagues "The Wildcats"

Surveillance Video Highlights Computer Theft From Broward School

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ― William Dandy Middle School, "The Home of the Wildcats", of Fort Lauderdale was hit by a rash of burglaries.

The Fort Lauderdale police department released a surveillance video on Wednesday that showed thieves breaking into the school, located at 2400 NW 26th St., on several occasions.

Up to ten teenagers could be involved, and were adept at slipping inside without setting off the alarm system.

Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman  Kathy Collins explained, "Usually, what they're trying to do is get the laptop computer.  That's where they get the most bang for their buck.  They go into the school and go right where the computers are and leave the school as soon as possible."

The take: up to 20 Dell computers and other equipment with an assessed value at somewhere near $40,000.

Anyone with information is asked to please call Broward Crimestoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
