Woman Found Dead Near 7-Mile Bridge Was Murdered

Body was bound, tied to gym weights when first dumped into the water.

KEY WEST (CBS4) ― More than a week after Monroe County Sheriff's deputies found the body of 28-year-old Eliett Jarquin, they are now saying the woman was murdered.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said an autopsy on the body revealed very little. Police say 30-year-old Francisco Jarquin, from Miami, killed his wife Eliett after he bound her with rope and telephone cords, then tying her to gym equipment, and finally, dumping her off the Seven Mile Bridge

The body of Eliett Jarquin was dumped off of the bridge around July 13, and wasn't found until July 17 when tourists on a fishing boat came across the body.

Detectives believe Eliett Jarquin was the mother of two boys, and had been planning to leave her husband because of his abusive behavior.

Francisco faces first-degree murder charges, police said Friday. Detectives say they solved the case after Jarquin's brother admitted helping dispose of the body.

Police added that Jarquin, 30, slipped back into his native Nicaragua days after the July 13 killing. The country has no extradition agreement with the United States.

Anyone with information about the woman is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Special Operations at (305) 289-2410 or Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys at (800) 346-TIPS.
