Astrology And Your Health: What's Your Sign

There Are Some Who Believe Health Can Be Tracked In The Stars

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The question of what's your sign may take on new meaning. A recent study suggests astrological signs may have an impact on one's health.

Can someone's horoscope provide more than just lucky numbers?

"It's a tool of understanding," said Elaine Ferretti, who has been studying and interpreting the stars for decades.

"If you are a cancer, you are going to love your home," said Ferretti. But what about the stars interpreting life expectancy. A recent study suggested that people born in October and November live the longest.

"Scorpios are the most resourceful sign of the zodiac, so you can't kill them," Ferretti jokingly said to CBS4 Reporter Jorge Estevez.

People born in April, May, June, that's Aries, Taurus, and Gemini. They tend to live the shortest, which had also been revealed in this research. "They are the children," added Ferretti, "and they act like children, but not as cautious."

Medical conditions might also be revealed in one's sign. People born in January, February, and March could be more prone to schizophrenia and Alzheimer's.

If someone were born in September, October, or November, that person could develop asthma or dyslexia;  and if born in April through August, well, watch out for diabetes. "We want to know why so we can do something to control it, so we can make it better," said Ferretti.

On the other hand, scientists, such as Dr. William Semak said astrology can't give a medical diagnosis.  "There is no scientific evidence that shows what season of the year you are born affects how your life plays out," said Dr. Semak.

Yet, there have been studies that have shown people are likely to die around their birthday.

"That's horrible," said Ferretti.

Okay, so death by birthday cake is not something Ferretti can explain with the stars, but she does use them for guidance.

"Our bodies are an amazing tool. Our spirit is an amazing thing, so I believe we can transcend it all," she concluded.
