  • April 22, 1996 -- Rape occurs in Southwest Miami-Dade. DNA evidence recovered. No match made.
 

  • Aug 5, 2002 -- FDLE receives DNA sample from Keels following a robbery conviction.
 

  • January 16, 2004 -- FDLE sends notification to Miami-Dade Police Department Crime Lab that Keels' DNA matches 1996 rape. Miami-Dade Crime Lab Administrator fails to notify the Sexual Crimes Bureau.
 

  • February 3, 2004 -- Keels leaves Florida prison.
 

  • May 7, 2004 -- Keels rapes woman in Southwest Miami-Dade
 

  • June 4, 2004 -- Keels rapes woman in Southwest Miami-Dade.
 

  • August 11, 2004 -- Miami-Dade Police Department Crime Lab notifies Sexual Crimes Bureau that Keels' DNA matches the 1996 rape.
 

  • August 12, 2004 -- Keels arrested.
 

  • October 3, 2008 -- Keels sentenced to 20 years in prison for 3 rapes
