Commissioner Rolle's Statement Regarding Cards
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
This is the statement from Miami-Dade Commissioner Dorrin Rolle, regarding our story on holiday cards:
As it relates to the Holiday Cards I sent to a small sample population of my Constituents, I feel that there are a few things you should know. Throughout the year, I use various forms of outreach to communicate with my constituents. In response to the outreach, constituents call to say that it helps remind them that I am actively involved in our community, and it serves as an update of contact information and service availability. The forms of outreach remind my constituents of my offices' numbers and addresses, and it causes them to call the office and share their concerns about their residential area and their need for county service. Out of the small sample set population of constituents the cards went to, many of whom may not have received anything from their family members or their friends during the holiday, my office has received numerous calls to say thank you for the action of gratitude and of good cheer. I hope this sheds light on your view of me sending 25,000 holiday cards at $0.40 each.
