Toyota Response To Sutta Investigation

Subject: Meeting or exceeding Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards
David --
Lexus stands fully behind the design and performance of its Front Passenger Airbag System. The airbag System is part of the overall restraint system, which meets or exceeds Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. In the interest of occupant safety, the System has been designed to minimize the potential for deployment if the System determines that a child or a child-restraint system is present in the front passenger seat. In the unlikely event that a Lexus owner's passenger-airbag indicator lamp switches on and off intermittently while the vehicle is in operation, the owner should visit a Lexus dealership to have the System examined. In some cases, depending on an individual's physique, it may be possible to modify the System to reduce the incidence of a blinking indicator light for a small-statured adult, without compromising the System's ability to disengage the airbag for infants and children.
Sincerely,
Xavier
