Letter From Michael Brewer's Parents

MIAMI (CBS4) ― When your child is in a trauma situation such as Michael's, you think you can just sit by his bedside and hold his hand and pray. However, this is not so. There are many doctors that you need to consult with; there are two shift changes a day; and then there are Mikey's bandage changes. This alone can take anywhere from 2-4 hours, and it's done twice a day. Michael is a very affectionate child. He loves his family and loves to play with his nieces and nephew. . . . And I do not know too many 15-year-old boys who kiss their mothers goodbye as they get out of the car in the morning to go to school.
We are blessed.

Michael is a very active boy. We could never get him to commit to just one sport. He loves to skateboard, ice skate, swim and play video games. Michael is a multitalented musician. He plays the drums and sings. He was a member of the Singing Sons Boys Choir and was just recently teaching himself how to play the guitar. Mikey is very smart. He loves to take things apart to see how they work, then put them back together again. We love going to the Panthers games. As far as what Michael wants to be when he grows up, he has always shown an interest in law enforcement. We had discussed him joining some branch of the military and possibly becoming an FBI agent someday.

As far as the boys and their family goes, I do not want to put any energy or thought into that now. We need to stay positive and focus on Michael's recovery.

I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone for prayers and donations. The incredible outpouring of love and support you have shown our family has once again helped to restore our faith in humanity.
God bless you all and thank you warmly,

Valerie and Michael Brewer Sr.
