Disney Honors Space Shuttle Endeavour Astronauts
ORLANDO (CBS) ―
The seven space shuttle Endeavour astronauts who returned to Earth Aug. 21, 2007 will be honored Monday in a day of ceremonies at Walt Disney World.
It's Walt Disney World's "NASA Space Day", described as an historic event designed to celebrate the inspirational accomplishments of the Endeavour crew Commander Scott Kelly, Pilot Charles Hobaugh and mission specialists Tracy Caldwell, Richard Mastracchio, Dave Williams, Barbara Morgan and Alvin Drew Jr.
As part of the day's celebrating, the astronauts will take part in a recognition ceremony to teacher-turned-astronaut Barbara Morgan and a plaque dedication at the Mission: SPACE attraction at Epcot Center. Morgan's quote on the plaque reads, "Reach for your dream
the sky is no limit."
The astronauts will also take place in a NASA education session focusing on STS-118 crew experiments and a Q & A session with the entire Endeavour shuttle crew and local school children.
The day wraps up with crew members serving as honorary grand marshals of the Magic Kingdom's afternoon parade down Main Street.
This is the first official appearance of the entire crew NASA space shuttle mission STS-118 following their return to earth last month.
