French President Wants Tougher Sanctions On Iran

PARIS (AP) ― President Nicolas Sarkozy said Thursday he wants tougher sanctions against Iran over its refusal to suspend its nuclear activities.

"I want stronger sanctions," Sarkozy said in a televised interview, adding that that does not exclude negotiations with the Iranians.

Sarkozy said he would push for firmer measures at the U.N.  General Assembly in New York next week. France has toughened its position on Iran in recent months.
