Hillary's Hispanic Support Eroding

WASHINGTON (CBS4) ― Senator Hillary Clinton's last stand in Texas hinges upon a large number of Hispanics voting for her. This is the same strategy the junior Senator from New York used in California, where support upon Hispanics was large. However, new polling from Gallup shows serious trouble may be on the horizon for Clinton.

The latest Gallup poll shows support for Illinois Senator Barack Obama among Hispanics ahs grown to a statistically significant lead. A full 50% of those surveyed chose Obama, while 46% supported Clinton. That margin is outside of the polls margin of error of 2%.

Only a month ago, Clinton led Obama by a nearly 2-1 margin with 63% supporting her to Obama's 32%. The Clinton campaign has placed all of its hope on the state of Texas' large Hispanic population, calling it a firewall towards the wave of support surging for Obama. Experts say if Clinton continues to see her support among Hispanics wane, her White House aspirations may be finished.
