New Round Of Storms Hits Midwest
Storm System Prompts Morning Tornado Watch In Northern Illinois

A new round of thunderstorms touched down in the Midwest Friday, hitting Kansas, Nebraska, southeastern South Dakota, Illinois and Iowa, the National Weather Service reported.
The storm system responsible for the active weather will continue to spark thunderstorms from the Great Lakes to the south central plains. Illinois, Indiana and Missouri appear to be at the greatest risk for tornadoes.
In Illinois Friday, lawmakers headed for shelter in the basement of the capitol building as gusty winds, rain and hail move the through central part of the state, CBS station WBBM-TV reported.
The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for several Illinois counties Friday but did not confirm if a tornado touched down in the capital, Springfield.
ComEd says 40,000 customers are without power in northern Illinois.
