Florida fell in the AP standings to No.2 after squeaking by Arkansas on Saturday, but are in first place in the
season's first release of the Bowl Championship Series standings.
Alabama (7-0) took over at No.1 in the AP standings after trumping South Carolina, 20-6, in an SEC matchup. The Gators (6-0) had trouble against unranked Arkansas and needed a field goal in the final seconds to beat the Razorbacks, 23-20.
Texas is No. 3, followed by Southern California and Cincinnati. The Hurricanes (5-1) rounded out the top 10 after handily beating Central Florida, 27-7, on the road. Miami is also in the tenth spot in the BCS standings.
Florida, the defending national champion, came into the season ranked No.1 but hasn't shown many flashes of its typical highly potent offense. The Gators had big wins against Charleston Southern, Troy and Kentucky, but have struggled against SEC opponents.
They beat LSU 13-3 last week, and had to rely on field goals to put up points.
