Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and Alabama head coach Nick Saban have
won the SEC offensive player and coach of the year honors, respectively,
from the Associated Press.
Tebow's win marks his second straight offensive player of the year award. In his latest game, Tebow propelled Florida to a thrilling win over Alabama for the SEC championship. The win also sent Florida to the BCS National Championship Game, which will be held in early January at Dolphin Stadium.
Alabama coach Nick Saban resurrected the University of Alabama football program to national prominence and a Sugar Bowl berth. The Crimson Tide finished the year 12-0 before losing to Florida in the SEC Championship game.
Saban wasn't the only Alabama player winning an award, as freshman phenom wide receiver Julio Jones was picked as the top freshman in the Southeastern Conference.
Finally, even through a losing season and losing a head coach, Tennessee safety Eric Berry was named the SEC's top defensive player for 2008.
