Elderly Are In Need Of Your Food Bank Donations
Neighbors 4 Neighbors: 305-597-4404
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
In these tough times, we all need help, especially when it comes to outing food on the table. Neighbors for Neighbors is doing its part with its Food 4 South Florida program, and it's still not too late to make your donations.
"It's hard without the pantry. I don't know how I'd make it," said Anna Marcucci, 77, who relies on help from others who donate food to pantries.
The Pantry of Broward happens to be an agency that helps the elderly in several different ways, but they are just one of the many pantries that are in need of more donations.
"You find yourself you want something to eat, but you can't afford it," said Marcucci.
Food pantries step in to help families struggling to pay their bills.
"By the time you get through, you find out you have $200 left for food for the rest of the month," said Marcucci.
And that is not enough, which is why, for the month of July,
Neighbors 4 Neighbors runs the
Food for South Florida Drive. People can donate food to families living right here in south Florida.
The trend is catching on. Companies like Volunteer Broward have collected hundreds of pounds of food and serve as a role model for other companies that can step in to help families who rely on the kindness of people like you.
"It's a blessing. They will receive such a blessing," said Marcucci.
It's easy to help Stop Hunger and all of our local food bank partners. You can bring in your canned goods and non-perishables to any Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Miami-Dade or Broward. You can also sign up to host a drive at work or as a group at
the Neighbors 4 Neighbors page. You can also give Neighbors 4 Neighbors a call at 305-597-4404.
