Food 4 South Florida Drive Collects 6 Tons Of Food

More Than 12-Thousand Pounds Of Food Collected

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Neighbors 4 Neighbors and CBS4 are proud to report that this year's Food 4 South Florida Drive collected more than 12 thousand pounds of food for area food banks.

"I collected by going around my neighborhood, door to door and asking everybody to please donate."

Chase Book was just one of hundreds of people and businesses from across South Florida who joined Neighbors 4 Neighbors and CBS4 in this year's Food 4 South Florida Drive.

"I think it's great, I think it's wonderful what these kids are doing, what the police department's doing, and it helps everybody," said Mary Drake from BJ's Warehouse.

Throughout the week, CBS4 shared the stories of local food banks who were in need and the viewers who came together to help feed the hungry in the community.

"It's very easy; all you have to do is donate your time. Nothing to it," said Drake.

"It's something we're very supportive of, and we know the need is there so we're glad to help out," said Michael Hull, of the Kiwanis of Ft. Lauderdale.

Neighbors 4 Neighbors said this year's outcome was tremendous - 12-thousand pounds of food were collected in Miami Dade and Broward counties.

"When you watch television as I did and saw the tremendous amount of food in South Florida and Weston, it's awe inspiring," said volunteer Joseph White. "It feels good, I feel like I can help a lot."

"Channel 4, you know it was a blessing," said Angela Hill of the Stop Hunger food bank. "We appreciate it, and we thank you for your support."

This year's food drive may have come to an end, but anyone interesting in donating can still do so by calling Neighbors 4 Neighbors at (305) 597-4404 to locate the nearest food bank.
