Making Back-To-School Brighter For Children

Neighbors 4 Neighbors Is Asking For Your Help To Raise Money To Make Back-To-School Season A Great Time For Everybody

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Children and teens head back to school in two weeks. Now, Neighbors 4 Neighbors is working to raise money and items to help outfit children for the big day.

Volunteers from Kids 4 Kids Inc. and Neat Stuff will be on hand Monday, August 4 beginning at 5:00 in the evening to take donations.

Kids 4 Kids Inc. supports a Backpack Project. Volunteers and students team up to pack thousands of backpacks with paper, pencils and other supplies needed throughout the school year. The non-profit's backpack program was recently acquired by Farm Share in an attempt to keep it going, and they're hoping to secure funding for another year.

Neat Stuff provides free brand new clothing, shoes, accessories and gifts to meet the basic needs of abused, neglected and other children in distress. The donations allow children to dress with pride and dignity, helping them to inspire their self worth. They deal with manufacturers to buy brand new clothing at bulk rates and discount prices. South Florida children and families are brought to the company's two stores every six months to "shop" for clothes at no cost.

On August 11, Neighbors 4 Neighbors will be raising donations and supplies for teachers in South Florida. In the struggling economy, most teachers are digging into their own pockets to outfit their classrooms. Volunteers from the Education Fund of Miami-Dade and Broward will be on hand starting at 5:00 in the evening Monday to take donations.
