Giving Hope To A Girl With Cystic Fibrosis

4 Click On Neighbors 4 Neighbors If You Can Help

CORAL SPRINGS (CBS4) ―

Coral Springs teenager, Brieanna Yowell, 13, suffers from Cystic Fibrosis and needs a double lung transplant. Yowell, who previously attended Coral Springs Middle School, is currently homeschooled, and on Friday, an entire community came out on her behalf to raise money for her operation.

Principal Susan Colton, Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook and the Coral Springs city commissioners  announced on Friday two events taking place on April 19th to benefit Brieanna: "Clean-Up For The Cure", where local students from several area schools will clean local parks, and "Brieanna's Birthday Bash", an event held at the Coral Springs Sportsplex. Proceeds and donations from both events will raise money for Brieanna.

Earlier in the day, Parkside Elementary students, a school she was once attended, walked around the grounds raising funds on her behalf. All the money will go to The Children's Organ Transplant Association in Brieanna's name.

"Our student government is always looking for ways to help the community," said Principal Susan Colton. "When one of our former students brought this idea to us, we knew it was right in line with our school mission and goals."

The Corona family – whose child attends Parkside - is underwriting a $10,000 sponsorship for the "Clean-Up For The Cure" and "Brieanna's Birthday Bash".
