This Year's Broward Fair May Be In Jeopardy

POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) ― The Broward County Fair, a tradition for more than thirty years, may be in jeopardy this year.

The City of Pompano Beach first denied organizers permission at the new site behind the Festival Flea Market on Sample Road. They had parking and other safety concerns. Tuesday night city commissioners in Pompano Beach decided to continue working with fair officials to keep the event safe for South Florida families.

"The last thing the city wants is to have any one get hurt and have the police and fire department not be able to get them," said Pompano Beach spokesperson Sandra King.

"The fair is so willing to do anything it takes to satisfy and give the City of Pompano Beach a comfort level to put on this event," said fair spokesperson Elaine Fitzgerald.

Both sides will meet to see if they can have everything in place to have the fair open in November.
