Christmas Eve Held In The Dark After Power Outage

MIAMI (CBS4) ― FPL says the wind and rain is responsible for knocking down power lines that knocked out power to thousands of customers on Christmas Eve.

At one point officials say 20,000 customers were without power between Miami-Dade and Broward Counties because of the weather. The utility company says it brought in extra crews to fix the problem.

This did put a damper on the festivities of some residents who had planned a feast but had to improvise instead. One woman interviewed by CBS4 had a turkey, fixings and cake ready to be prepared when the power outage occurred.

The last update given by the power company had only 3,300 customers remaining without power: 90% of them are in Miami-Dade and 10% in Broward. They will continue through the night to restore power.
