A Pembroke Pines convenience store clerk allegedly took the law into his own hands when he shot one of several men who were apparently trying to rob the store.
A convenience store clerk didn't let a would-be robber get away unhurt in an alleged attempted robbery in Pembroke Pines Monday night.
Pines Police say three to four men tried to rob the Stop and Go Food Store located at 7761 Johnson Street. When police got there, one of the men was still there, shot in the leg inside the store. They say the store clerk shot him, and possibly another one of the suspects who got away.
Fire rescue transported the victim to the Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.
According to officials the men came in and ordered several patrons to the ground. The clerk shot at one of them while he tried to get cash from the register.
Police have blocked off a perimeter as they look for the men, who they believe fled in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix with dark tinted windows, eastbound on Johnson Street.
The clerk was not hurt.
