Family Prays To Find Road Rage Beater

The Incident Happened On I-95, In Miami Gardens

Miami-Dade Crimestoppers: 305-471-TIPS

MIAMI GARDENS (CBS4) ― Friday night, the small Greater Love Baptist Church in Miami Gardens was packed with friends, family and members of this community. They held a joyful, soulful prayer service for respected church deacon David West--a man whose family and friends say devotes his life to his church but who is also clinging to life in a hospital bed.

West was brutally attacked earlier this month in a road rage incident, while his wife sat beside him in their car. He lies comatose at Jackson Memorial Hospital; the young man who beat him has not been caught.

Deacon Lester Jones has been close to West for a decade. He told CBS4 Reporter Natalia Zea, "It's a darn shame what's happened, and something must be done about it."

Speaking of the prayer service, Jones said, "We are paying our most respect to him, because he is a godsend man, a very spiritual man.

The spirit of praise engulfed the packed church, as West's family members celebrated his life, and prayed for his recovery.

West's granddaughter Jessica Mackey said, "Tonight has uplifted our spirits, we've been down and out, we've been praying and fasting, and tonight just made it confirmation that the power that my grandfather can still live and heal."

West's daughter Dollie says she knows her father's attacker will face justice, whether police catch him or not.

"The person that did this will have no other choice but to turn himself in," she said. "God will not allow him to continue to run; you can run but you can't hide, just come forth."

West's attacker is between 25 and 35 years old and has a noticeable mole on his face.

He was driving a newer model, blue Ford Mustang with custom rims.
If you can help bring this attacker to justice call Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
