Davie Skate Ramp Has Neighbor Rolling To Town Hall

DAVIE (CBS4) ― Some families in a Davie neighborhood want to get rid of a new back yard skate ramp, but the owner says it would be unfair to neighborhood kids.

"There is no consideration for people living around here, said Ellen Parrino whose house butts up against the skate ramp.

But William Moon who Built it told cbs 4's Jorge Estevez it's for his family and doesn't want to take it down, "It would ruin a really good thing that is going on here," he said.

The skate ramp just went up and already neighbors have called the city of Davie to have it taken down.

Caught in the middle of this adult neighborhood dispute is a 7 year old kid by the name of Spencer Christopher. "It's actually better cause you can go down ramps and all that," said the aspiring professional skater.

Spencer Christopher loves this new ramp. "It's like snow boarding its better cause it's sort of harder and all that," Spencer said.

William Moon who gave Spencer his first skateboard says the activity brings his family together.

"it just brings joy and amazement and you know family and everything," he said.

Moon may have built it with good intentions but it brings Neighbors like Ellen Parrino.. nothing but grief.

"UUUGGGHHHH "Like... like thunder.. it sounds just like thunder," Parrino said.

Parrino is especially concerned cause she is trying to sell her house.

"I'd like to see that thing go down it's horrible I can't sell my home with that thing there it's atrocious," she complained to cbs4's Jorge Estevez.

Parrino and her neighbors fear what the summer months will be like.

"You have it at night but weekends... it'll be a calamity," she said.

So, in review... for Spencer. It's family fun. but for neighbors like Parrino it's not, "it's like old crap they found out in the yard and put it together."

For Spencer's godfather....if it's taken down he feels it would ruin a good thing.

A spokesperson with the city of Davie said two different departments have come out here and they can't find any violations except for a potential noise problem. The owner of the ramp said he shuts it down at 8 o'clock.
