Miami Man Surrenders After 5 Hour Stand Off

MIAMI (CBS4) ― A Miami who fired on police and then held officers at bay for about 5 hours finally surrendered early Thursday morning.

Miami police say officers were sent to 650 NW 52nd Street after neighbors reported a domestic disturbance where a man was having problems with his girlfriend. When they arrived the man ran into an apartment and then allegedly fired several shots at the officers. The officers returned fire and called for a SWAT unit. A police negotiator was finally able to convince the man to surrender around 1 a.m. on Friday.

No one was injured in the incident. The man's relatives were upset with the police presence, saying they should never been called and the incident it was a 'family affair'.
